Argos - faulty microwave
Kestrel
I purchased a £31.99 microwave from Argos on 15/02/13. This evening, 16/02/13 I placed a potato in the microwave and after a few minutes minutes I could smell burning, I went in the kitchen to find smoke pouring out of the microwave. Am I entitled to take the microwave back to Argos tomorrow and get a replacement? I have the receipt but I don't have the box as I took it to the tip with my old microwave in it this morning.

Yes if you are confident you have used the microwave according to the instructions.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

You are fully entitled to take it back and get a refund or a replacement if you wish. Argos are pretty good with faulty items.0

Was the smoke coming from the microwave or from the potato in the microwave? it quite a common problem potatoes going on fire in microwaves so the microwave might not have been at fault, if the microwave was faulty, they should give you a replacement or refund.0

I cook hundreds of potatoes in microwaves and have yet to see one catch fire, using both domestic and commercial machines. Was the smoke coming from the microwave or from the potato in the microwave? it quite a common problem potatoes going on fire in microwaves so the microwave might not have been at fault, if the microwave was faulty, they should give you a replacement or refund.0 -
A quick "google search" does give a fair few results of potatoes catching fire in microwaves, although like bris, I've cooked plenty of them and never had a problem.0

If the microwave was only £32, I'd just want my money back with no replacement!:eek:0

So you'd have 32 quid on the table and no microwave? Awesome plan.
A cheap microwave usually works fine.0 -
£32 is far too cheap for me. Does it run on horse meat?:Dmattyprice4004 wrote: »A cheap microwave usually works fine.0 -
