Been to look at one today and it was a bit of a dog,no water in it,1 tyre on limit,no parcel shelf, rattle on exhaust......apart from that I quite like the cars they seem quite spacious and boot pretty big,was after an estate car but could settle for one of these.
Anyone had any experience with these cars? they had one on top gear which got thrashed round the track every week without any trouble, anything to look out for? they seem cheap to buy and I would guess quite long lasting being Japanese. It was the hatchback version I'm interested in and the GLX with all the toys.

In its service, the Liana covered 1,600 laps of the circuit; its tyres and brakes were changed 100 times; and it required six new clutches, two new hubs, driveshafts, wishbones, struts and gear linkages and a replacement wing mirror.0 -
Without trouble? Are you sure?
What about the wheels falling off? Lionel Richie (Rich Tea) had that and at least one other celeb.
Several gearbox failures, Front suspension failed also. Countless clutches.
Tyres didnt last long at all, Rumours of 20 laps, Sometimes less.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
So they're crap cars is what you're saying?0

My DH had one for 5 years it was a good car no problems at all he traded it in for an SX4, nice roomy boot and comfy on a long run.0

No, that isn't what jim or FMN are saying. They tested £200k mercs which ruined the tyres after a day round the track, astons where the gear box went, TVRs where engine light remained on entire time. Even a toyota subjected to the same amount of abuse the liana received would fail.
Imagine if it was a fiat or a french car they used... would be gearboxes, head gaskets and complete rewiring required every few laps
Edit - Infact, I'd spin those figures around. Stuff like suspension, bearings would be down to coming off the track at 80mph, clutches, linkages and gearboxes from people a) not used to the car, and b) not used to manuals or RHD. Tyres and brakes you'd expect, so all in all I'd say thats a feckin well screwed together car!0 -
If I see one of these i'll overtake it asap, you just know your gonna be stuck behind a 40mph driver if you see one of those things.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If your tearing around a racetrack then expect to replace the tyres every 20 miles or was it 20 laps? Clutches last a couple of hundred miles with those racing starts.
And sometimes the wheels may fall off at 80mph ish at the follow through?
As an everyday shopping car i would expect it to last longer. Well probably quite a bit longer.
And David Soul destroyed 2 gearboxes, Not because they were faulty but because he broke them.
But as with most cars they are not 100% reliable.. I would rather have one over a Fiat or a Renault though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
