Just to let you know whats happening now with my current situation. After speaking to our local council about the "contamination" and asking them to do the extra search and we would pay for it,the council told us that they would not waste their time or money or ours to do such a search on land they know is not of a high risk. They said the area we live on was an old freight railway line and the only spillage then was diesel and as diesel evaporates it would never be classed as a high or medium risk area. They confirmed the site had been erradiated before the builders got permission and then proceeded to say these RPS homecheck reports arent worth the paper they are written on and they buyers solicitor should have advised them that this was just a scaremongering tactic! So i got the council to put this in writing to the buyers solicitor and the buyers said it still wasnt good enough! So i personally told the buyers were to shove it and as of Wednesday it was back on the market ofiicialy i.e in the paper and on the internet. We had one viewing on thursday and 3 saturday ( one was a second viewing from thursday) and then as of last night we had 3 offers from each couple who had come round and we accepted an offer from the people who had come round twice. They have given us the askng price too so we have got more money than the original time we sold! Im just keeping my fingers crossed this all goes through now. The buyers have already got their mortgage sorted or a lending certificate as you say and are going back to the mortgage co on monday and are instructing their solicitor on monday so hopefully we wont have any of this "4 weeks down the line and surveys/searches havent started yet". Fingers crossed.0

Thanks for the update - I'm really pleased you have got a new buyer already and at asking price! I hope this all goes through!
To be honest with your original buyers it does sound like they would be panicking at everything so imagine the stress you would have had if they had got homebuyers survey done as they usually suggest paying for extra inspections / reports e.g. to check boiler, plumbing, electrics, drains! I can understand a FTB being a bit nervy but it sounds like it is the dad and the solicitor insisting on this probably irrelevant report!?
Hopefully this buyer is much more realistic! Is there chance now that you can still get your dream home?0 -
Congratulations - sounds like you have got normal level headed buyers this time. I agree with Miss Penny Pincher, if your original buyers had accepted the councils explanation then something else would have cropped up along the line.
We had a nutter that strung us along for several weeks the first offer we accepted. Where do these loons come from???0 -
Hi guys, yeah theres a good chance we still get our dream home. god i hope so anyway. We did tell the vendors everything that had happened and they were fine about it although did say they would have to put theirs back on the market whilst ours was for sale, which i totally understood but she put it back on the market for £40k more! ????! but she did say she really wanted us to have it. Then yest when i accepted my offer i rang her and told her and she said its ours again providing our buyer gets their finger out and gets on with the survey this week. Which shouldnt be a problem if they are seeing their mortgage co on monday to tell them the details of our house they have put an offer in on. When we went to nationwide to sort ours out that was on the tues evening and the survey was done and comleted by the friday. So im hoping they stick to their word and get on with it. The EA told them today that we had 2 other offers after theres and we were sticking to our word and going with them on the provider that they got on with things swiftly.0

Fingers crossed for a happy ending for you!0

i will keep you posted! it was nice to hear from the EA today that she thought we had a very nice house for the price we were asking and wasnt suprised we had offers from everyone who had been round. Just annoying that we accepted an offer from those idiots in the first place if wed continued with viewings those other people could have been round sooner and we could have been well on the way now0
