Thailand (Air India flights)

I've actually found Air India fine, but like others say, if you're flying domestic in India IndiGo is the way. Flying international is like most international airlines, just fine, but domestic is like a totally different company.0

We had looked at Thailand a few months ago (January holiday) but the prices were pretty steep so we opted for Egypt instead. I'm glad to see a post about summer travel to Thailand, because I've considered it as an early June holiday now. Looking into it, it's much cheaper than it was in January, although weather not as ideal.
Keen to hear if it's a really bad idea. I'd definitely like to go to Bangkok, but would consider doing a two centre either with a beach, or even with Vietnam. Haven't looked up flights yet. Should Bangkok be avoided early June?
Villa - are you planning to Stop in India? If you're flying via Delhi it could be an opportunity to stop off and see the Taj Mahal (5 hours from Delhi), and another fascinating place which is in Delhi called Swaminarayan Akshardham.
Keep us posted on your plans.

Will do. I think the Flights have been a lot cheaper then we originally expected. We could well stop off and see the taj!
Will let you know about our experiences for sure.0 -
No disrespect intended.
But an independent trip to anywhere in the Indian sub-continent, or South Asia needs to be properly planned in order to get the most out of it.
Bangkok, for instance is 24/7 in your face, and unless you're prepared for it then it's bewildering and overwhelming.0 -
Also a very expensive visa for India for a 'couple of days' needs thinking about.0

Forgot about the Visa, especially now they have doubled the price  May still be worth thinking about though, some fantastic sights in the Delhi area, I'd highly recommend it.0

Yes, if you are used to package holidays on the Med then India and SE Asia can be quite a shock. Bangkok is now one of my favourite big cities anywhere but the first time I went it felt like landing on a different planet.0 -
I'm looking forward to taking the Airport Rail Link when we land in BKK this Thursday. No more kamikaze taxi drivers!0

Personally, I don't bother with the Airport Rail Link. I tried it once but after a long flight, all I want to do is jump into a taxi and get into the city as quickly as possible. The drivers maybe lunatics with no sense of their own mortality (or their passenger's!) but they are still pretty good value.0 -
Our hotel is right by Ramkhomkaeng station, takes about 25 minutes on the City Line, and costs next to nowt.0
