Bit late in posting I know. I have 2 cats, both brothers who have hyperthyroidism. One may not be doing too well at the moment (different post) but he has been managed really well for 3 years on Vidalta. He started off on Felimazole and did well on that but started reacting to it, had weird raspy coughs and vomiting episodes and was swapped onto Vidalta 2 years ago. His brother is on a much more smaller dose. We've never had problems with getting tablets into him, I get the Webbox meaty sticks and pop the tablet inside and he wolfs it down. Having his medication stopped for the last 2 weeks I can see how amazing this drug is, I hope we get him well enough to go back on his medication I hate seeing him all lethargic and uninterested.0

Aww, that's really good news that your pusscat is recovering, and that everything has worked out well! :T You must have been so worried

Just a wee update on my Charlie-Darling-Puss - the Y/D food is working!! And his thyroid tested in the normal range a week or so ago. Even though Charlie is quite amenable, it's difficult to make sure he only eats the Y/D food, and I need eyes in the back of my head to try to make sure he doesn't eat my other cat's food, but we're getting into a good routine, and it's well worth the effort. I'm so relieved....:)0 -

When I phoned up for the biopsy results, the receptionist said 'yep, they're in but I'll have to get one of the vets to call you' which is standard procedure so didn't concern me too much.
She then went on to say 'hmm, Claire [who had arranged the tests] is not in until Monday [this was Thursday] so I'll get her to ring you on Monday evening'.
I thought it was pretty unreasonable to leave me hanging all weekend! Don't you think that's strange?! 'Hi yes, we know whether your cat has cancer or not, but we're not going to tell you for another four days'.
After pointing out that it was a bit off to leave me waiting all weekend, she arranged for someone else to call me a half hour later

Lavender Bees, did your cat take to the Hills Y/D straight away?
My cat, has munched a little bit I think, I've weighed the food when I've put it down and weighed it again this morning and there's 15 grams gone from the bowl. The problem I have is like yourself in that I have 2 cats so can't be sure who is eating what. However his brother tends not to eat dry food because his teeth aren't good.
My ill cat seems to only spend a couple of minutes licking and eating at the moment and drinks more than eating, usually he's a voracious eater, so it's a bit disconcerting because I can't tell if he's eating when I'm not there.
Have you any advice on how to get him back to eating well again.0 -

I think if I were yoo, I'd separate the cats and feed them separately for a few days so that you can tell who is eating what.
I got Charlie-puss the Y/D wet food hoping it would be more palatable. He had just started rejecting his old dry food as though he was fed up with it. He's happily eaten the Y/D wet food right from the start. He eats about a tin a day, and I keep him separate from my other cat during the day so he can have his food down and graze whenever he wants to.
Honestly, though, I'd be going back to the vet if I thought one of my pusses wasn't eating. They can become so ill so quickly if not eating.
I hope all goes well

I certainly think it shows a spectacular lack of empathy
, but it could be that the person talking to you didn't know what the test results were for (I'm trying to be understanding here ). I'd have insisted on the test results asap too. 0
