Driver updates needed, or spam?

Something that has never occured to me. Keep getting pop-ups (on YouTube, so prob just touting?) about "my drivers need updating".

I'm on Windows XP SP3, so I guess it is possible they do, but is there a legit program to check?

Spam. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you need drivers, get them from the PC manufacturers site.

Run AdwCleaner in search mode to make sure you haven't picked up any crap.

I agree with the post above, I'd only update a driver if that specific device was being problematic so if your machine is running fine I wouldn't update the drivers for the sake of it.

Probably an advert on the website.

Use firefox with AdBlock plus and NoScript.

I rarely get any adverts and when one does appear a couple of clicks and its blocked.

the only update you may need is from adobe flash player which updates quite regularly.
