How long would you wait to receive an item?

I bought an item on eBay two weeks ago, asking the seller if they sent it they told me it was sent on 8th Feb and that they sent it first class standard, they said they will contact the post office they posted it from(can't see how this will help). I called my local delivery office and nothing was there for me.
Anyway I am willing to wait until next week for it to arrive, otherwise I will be waiting my money back. Am I being unfair or would you wait longer?

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

I'd usually wait 2 weeks as long as seller didn't start any nonsense about expecting me to claim myself.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. What worries me Soolin is that they said they sent me a copy of the po receipt on eBay, which i couldn't see for some reason and were on about contacting the po they posted it from. I am giving them until Wednesday then I want a refund and if they don't provide I will put in a claim. Does that seem reasonable to you?No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

I think that would be reasonable but I would send one last email before opening a claim and ask outright for a refund.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Okay I emailed and politely asked for my money back, no reply or refund within 24 hours so opened up a case:
The seller then messaged me this today:
Hi there - I've seen that you have opened up a case against me. I think, at this stage, that it is extremely unfair and I'm very disappointed especially after I've been very open with you. I have, from the start, explained what I am doing and the channels I am going through. At this early stage in this matter I have been back to the Post Office and they have said that the parcel could easily be delayed in transit. Therefore, I need to see what is happening with the parcel before making any re-imbursement. That is on advice from the Post Office.
It could easily turn up with you and then you would have been re-imbursed and also have the bag.
I have also been in touch with ebay customer services and explained the details of this to them (yesterday's date) and await to hear from them in this matter.
I appreciate that your payment is a lot of money for this item but I need to deal with this in the aforementioned manner and am going through all the correct channels. Therefore, you will need to be patient, and accept that I will contact you every step of the way. I really can't say fairer than that.

I don't think she is being fair withholding my money within 3 weeks.
What does everyone else suggest? No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

P.S I contacted eBay to try to find out what was going on and they said as I opened the case with PP they couldn't really talk about it and I needed to contact them, so I suggest she is saying that to 'scare' me perhaps? No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Are they quite a new/ low-volume seller? From the email it doesn't sound like they are being unreasonable on purpose, I think they are just a bit naiive about how ebay works/how long a royal mail claim will take.
Either way, 2 weeks from dispatch is about the time to be expecting a refund, so I would just escalate the case as soon as it'll let you.0 -

They must be, they don't seem to understand that I have waited 3 weeks, they seem to want me to wait for months and I am not prepared too.No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

I think the message they sent you was very polite, formal and just requesting you hang on abit longer.
Now you've waited long enough...but I think seller is still hopeful. I would hope you would not hold this against him as he has to lose bag and money.
I would send a message along these lines if you havn't replyed already,
Hiya,
Thank you for your message but I personally feel I have waited long enough for this item and belive that it is lost. I ask you again, if you would refund and then follow your claim with Royal mail to seek compensation and on the off chance it did happen to turn up I will be in contact with you to arrange payment or return.
If you do not refund I will just have to follow though with the Paypal case but means that we no longer need to contact each other so this will be my last message unless you require information for the Royal mail claims form (After refund)
Thanks, y/n
And then basicly escalte the paypal case as soon as you can if you dont recive a refund(i belive this is 8days from opening)People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Naive or not it is a poor seller who expects a buyer to wait this amount of time. The OP should not be feeling in the slightest bit guilty at having gone for a dispute, and frankly I would now leave this running and not communicate further with the seller unless required to do so through the dispute console.
And yes I would hold the delaying tactics and need to open a case against the seller when I came to leave feedback and stars.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. We are speaking the same language, I sell stuff on eBay although I am not a powerseller. I sell maybe 5 things a month, not a lot but usually items between £30-£50. I would not only send recorded or special delivery. I would refund and then deal with RM.
I can't even be bothered to reply to her pathetic message, how long does she expect me to wait?
Annoying thing is Paypal aren't going to do anything until 3rd March grrr. More waiting. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
