Long story short, last weekend Mum drove my car and tried to adjust the internal mirror. This evening I adjusted my seat (aching after the gym!) then needed to move the mirror and it came off in my hand. I think the reason it came off is that the ball joint at the back is very very stiff so moving it probably meant moving it on the glue - it took my OH to be able to loosen it up. I don't know whether to apply some WD40.

I have an R-reg Fiesta, the mirror would appear to be the original one. It's not particularly heavy but superglue wasn't going to hold it (glad though because internet search tells me that superglue is bad!) so I need something to fix it on.

Heard mixed reviews about: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_168190_langId_-1_categoryId_255230#tab3

A lot on the internet says to get it done professionally by windscreen repairs people. I don't think we have any that are particularly local..

Thoughts?

From my experience a professional job is the only way, unless you can get hold of the same sort of heated glue system they use.
  • Buy a suction review mirror from ebay, I had one on my car for 4 or 5 years and it passed the mot. A lot cheaper and lots less hassle.

Both the glue kits and sticky pads work well if done properly. They are a bit of a pita to do properly so going to a pro may be the easiest option.
  • dont ever use superglue it causes the windscreen to crack, you can get glue from most motor factor shops, its a kit consisting of a gauze pad and a tube of glue, you clean off the back of the stalk that sticks to the windscreen then glue the gauze to that and then press on to the wind screen until set ( setting time depends on how cold it is etc so its best putting on on a warm day or heat the car up)
