  • Thanks for your message susu, your get-together with friends sounds great. I will definately try it with my friends. Also well done on being so organised with your presents i will definately have to get my act together.

    Thanks for your support chocaholic

Had a horrid day at work - i felt so stressed when i left that i spent £1.80 in mcDonalds then spent 40p on a crunchie and then was tempted to go and spend money in the pub - but managed to resist and instead spend £1 on four cans of coke and am sitting watching corrie with a bacardi and coke :) It made me realise that when i am stressed i am tempted to spend money for a quick fix, but i am so pleased i resisted as now i would be feeling low for wasting money.
  • bought lunch for £2.70 and 4 cokes for a £1 :) - i have not made a great start to the week, i tend to spend more when i am stressed and am very stressed this week - but i guess i am still under my £10 weekly target so cant complain.

Got my horrible phone bill today - it is £130 as expected. I am very ashamed but on a positive note it is better than £280 last month!
My bf said that my last phone bill was almost the same price as rent, which is terrible - i will make sure that this month i only use ONLY my free minutes!
  • hectic week - didn't make any packed lunches.
Also had to spend £15 on a work event that was compulsory attendance - bloody cheek!
A friend of mine is very dissapointed that I am not going to her expensive dinner party at the weekend. It made me realise how bossy that particular friend has been. In the past I would have felt pressured to go.... but this time I am standing up for myself - I am not going as I want my debt cleared!

Well done Debty Betty, you've made the right decision regarding the expensive dinner. What you will start to find out now is who your friends really are. The ones that put pressure on you are simply not worth the time of day. You stick to your guns and give it a couple of years your bossy friend will probably be posting on here :)

Hi - just read your diary, well done for what you've achieved so far. I've not been very good lately so could do with a kick up the backside!

Well done on getting the bank to refund those charges. Have you looked into claiming back charges made previously? There is a section on here, I'm on stage 2 and hope to get back £746 in charges. Worth looking into.

I also overspent on others, esp my BF. But I've been better this year and for christmas I've started already!

Keep it up.... you'll be debt free much sooner than you think.

ps - I have a O2 sim card, for £15pm you get 500 text messages, plus you can spend the £15 on calls.... plus you can get 500 mins to one number (has to be O2) each month for free. My BF is on O2 so I call him for free. May be worth thinking about. I have 2 sims if needed. PM if interested.

    xx

Well done DB, you are doing a fantastic job.

I wouldn't worry about overspending a little bit now and then, the main thing is that your attitude towards spending has changed dramactically and you are already seeing the rewards for your efforts. You can continue to refine your spending but you have made a fantastic start!

  • UPDATE

I had the best telephone call from my not very understanding friend telling me about the dinner YAYYYYYYY I am so happy I didnt go. It was £65 per person for dinner and a dessert! and a soft drink cost £9! On top of that the restaurant asked for a tip ha ha ha ha.

Anyway on Saturday my lovely bf took me for dinner we had a lovely meal which included a main dinner and a variety of salads and a drink. The total cost was £20 for the two of us- of course i didnt pay, so it was free for me :)
The remainder of the weekend i didnt spend any money just did lots of free things.

Anyway the next couple of days will be very busy for me because i will be finishing my current job and then i have a break before starting a new job for which i will get more money 2 throw at my evil debt! woooo hoooooo

Today and yesterday no spend days.

Tonight a couple of my understanding friends are coming for dinner. I am making Chicken, veg and a jacket spud and they are bringing some drinks and dessert - We have decided we will watch big brother 2 c who will be going into the house and whether it is worth watching.xx
  • SAVING POUNDS
No spends for most of last week kept to my weekly £10 budget YAY ME :)

SPENDING POUNDSAt last i have finished my stressful job and am waiting to start my new (higher paid) position. Hopefully this will let me pay my debt off quicker :)

The only downside is that its a bit posh with strict business dress code which means i will have to spend some money on a work wardrobe. It has been so long since i have been clothes shopping that i am scared to go incase i get the spending bug again. I will bring my boyfriend along to stop me going crazy and buying half the store :) I will give him my cash card so that he can vet everything i buy.

    LOOSING POUNDS
With my recent light bulb moment and impending new job i feel that i have beginning to have some control in my life. This has prompted me to sort out another area of my life that i have been unhappy about; I need to loose weight. I have noticed since i have not been getting takeaways(to save money) that i have also started to loose a little bit of weight. So far i have lost around 5/6 pounds. A friend have given me a three month trial at her gym so i would like to take this opportunity to set myself a new challenge of loosing weight, hopefully this will keep me busy without spending money :)
