Contents Insurer with Additional Sporting Equipment advice please

I have about £6000 of fishing tackle that i normally have insured with a specialist insurer ... unfortunately the insurers underwriter have pulled the plug, so i am now looking to combine with my contents insurance.

As far as i can gather, i can add a personal belongings to a standard contents policy, to whatever combined value i need, up to an individual item value of £1500. This, i believe covers me for when using the fishing tackle away from home.

There are many loop holes that i'm worried about ... like when travelling in the car, or asleep when nightfishing or when "nature" calls & i have to leave my gear unnatended for 15minutes.

Can anyone recommend any general advice or perhaps have any experience insuring sporting (fishing tackle if poss) items with a particular insurer.

I doubt it will exist, but i'm trying to find an "any eventuality" type insurance whilst when the items are in use.

Any advice appreciated

If you want to cover the items whilst in use, you will need to go to another specialist insurer, as it is a general exclusion on home policies for sporting equipment whilst in use.

Try visiting BIBA.org.uk - they should have a list of insurers who can help you.
