I just thought I would update this thread on the latest developements. I persevered with Best Buy and they got the store manager to email me asking for more details of product/sale. I did this but before I got a reply Amazon released this model tablet into the UK. I messed about a bit and managed to download the Amazon.uk appstore and have subsequently downloaded quite a few apps. I also found I could now get Lovefilm to which I have been subscribed for some time. I still can't purchase video/music content but I am happy enough downloading my own music and using Lovefilm for video.
Best Buy did evenutally reply, but by then I was happy enough to keep the Kindle Fire 8.9" as the screen and graphics are excellent. Although I still don't have full content it may become accessible in time.
