I can appreciate what everyone is saying. They are a small family run business, and as regards to the order all they have done is write down what I want in a book-they don't order it in until I've paid the full amount and 1 month before my due date.

There was no other customer in the store when I asked about my refund or was talking to them about the product. They haven't lost any money-it would be a 5 minute process as it was done via chip and pin to refund me and the Barclays card reader would don't he processing.

I just think, if they had told me it was non refundable and u still went ahead then that's my fault. Fair enough. But they didn't, which they should of done before I paid my deposit. As you can get both refundable and non refundable deposits and it should be clearly stated what the terms of the deposit are, and if I understand and agree to them. Hence paying the deposit

deposits are generally non refundable. However they should have told you somewhere that the deposit is non refundable, be that a sign in the store, on the back of the receipt or verbally. Ask them how they did this.

Rubbish! how about you have a look at the FAQs?

And what about the loss of profit from the sale, you must know by now they are entitled to the net profit from the sale because the OP is in breach of contract.
I am amazed that some of the regulars on here still don't know how deposits work.

Lost profit is not an element under breach of contract as they still have the goods to sell on.

As per the FAQ post link to Unfair contract regs.
