Corner of a loft conversion!!!!

I really don't know how to explain this - so please bear with me.
The plaster on the walls of our attic bedroom is crumbling away, and I was quoted about £450 to board and skim the room, without removing any of the old cr*p
I was up there today and I realised that the problem walls are just lathe and crumbled plasterboard - basically squaring off the room, so that the ceiling doesn't slope down to the floor. Peering in through the holes, I can see that the roof has basically no insulation - explaining why it's so bloomin freezing up there.
Instead of me re-boarding the existing partition walls - would it be feasible for me to open up the squared off areas - and to insulate and board the sloping ceilings, and the floor underneath. And roundabout how much more work would that be (in other words - how much would it cost?)
Thanks, in advance

There is an easier option (but may be more costly)
you can get plasterboard with foam insulation backing.
Search for kingspan; about £20 per sheet.baldly going on...0 -
You would not believe the amount of dust and muck created/involved in removing lathe and plaster walls/ceilings and you've got to take it all down through the house and have a skip to get shot of it. Depends on the size of the room involved but get the chap who quoted £450 to price for using insulated board, a standard 2.4 x 1.2 sheet is about £5 so if baldelectricians is £20 then calculate how many sheets required x £15 for the probable difference.0

But you may want to get the roofspace insulated properly first before you have the plasterboard redone. Will all help to keep you warm.
Agree the dust & muck is horrendous, had ceilings replaced thankfully before I moved in an old house but there was about a foot of almost sticky kind of dust~horrid.0
