I am looking at getting a rescue dog and I know they do a lot of checks etc.

Does anyone know if they ask for proof of home ownership? I know if you rent they want a letter from your landlord to say they agree to you getting a pet.

Depends entirely upon the rescue organization that you go to. They're all different and have their own rules.

Definately.

In my experience, I've never been asked to show proof of ownership. Mostly for small animals, though when I adopted one of the dogs, they were made aware that I rented off my mum (who they'd already met as she drove me to meet the dog) so knew she was OK with it and I didn't need any literature to confirm.

At least 3 different rescues we have had family dogs from did not ask for proof of home ownership, but all rescues I have had dogs from have asked for proof of landlord agreement to allow dogs when renting.

It will vary though

I guess it depends, I have a rescue dog & don't own my home so in my case no.

Thanks for your replies. I was just wondering whether I would need to take anything with me to the dogs home. (If anyone is interested they didn't require any paperwork)
