Best Valentine's Faux Pas? :o)

Paramour took me out for dinner at my favourite restaurant last night. I know the waitress/owner, so started chatting to her about a common acquaintance. The owner's english isn't great, so I automatically (as I do) modified my language to make myself more coherent to her.

At home, paramour started laughing, and pointed out that I'd also changed my accent when chatting to the owner, and he found it hilarious. Mortified, (my best friend has told me this before), I asked how different it was. Paramour said that the difference was because I normally sound very different. To clarify, he said "..it makes you sound very educated...".

At which point, I started laughing, and queried if I'd just been insulted. He did a double take, turned red, and asked if he should gracefully leave. :rotfl:
