Tricked into employment?

  • This is not the place to "name and shame", as doing so gives the company chance to resolve/ hide what they have done wrong.

OP, your wife should make an immediate report to the Care Quality Commission. Emphasis on immediate because this needs to be done now, not when she has sorted out her issues with the company. If vulnerable people are being harmed this has to be the first priority.

I'm sorry but if i was in her position i would wait until your own issues are resolved first, in case of any problems.

I know I was quite shocked about the whole thing.

But what's worse is how the people are treated, and some people had to have their lunch at 9am because there was nobody going to them at lunch time.

This may be normal though, but there were people using milk bottles for the toilet and one man had a camping loo that was overflowing and spilt when you picked it up it hadn't been emptied for so long!

I think it's worse for the poor people who need this not so careing care.
Good god almighty - why isn't your OH on the phone to the Care Quality Commission? She can blow the whistle on this neglect and cruelty in complete confidence.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • What training did she actually have?
Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.
  • The training that she had was;

    Moving and handeling
    Medication and Dementia
    Food Hygiene and Infection Control

That's all, but maybe that was enough?

But she was asked to watch for one day and then work alone.

I don't think we really know what's acceptable and normal and what isn't.
  • Social services should be able to get involved too and they are usually 24 hours, should be able to find them through googling your area and social services. The peeing in a milk bottle definately isn't on, nor is the toilet overflowing.

Sorry, but what do you mean, 'she needed 26 hours'
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Well we have reported them on the Care Quality Comission website now, but it seems others have been too.

26 hours was what she needed to work, I just mean she was looking for 26 paid hours per week. That's what she applied for.
  • Oh and she also had to change oxygen tanks, but she wasn't told how to do it and she still doesn't know how to do it. How dangerous could that be! eekkk :-/
