Noise Cancelling Headset

Wondered if anyone can recommend a suitable type/brand of headset.

My son is looking for a pair to use for Skype, however due to his age etc his PC is within the living room so there is the usual background noise. His friends are commenting on how they can hear the back ground noises better than they can him.

Budget would be approx. £40

You seem to need a noise-cancelling microphone rather than noise-cancelling headphones.

I'd search for "noise cancelling microphone headset", and check carefully that the microphone component is highly-directional or noise-cancelling.

Assuming you want a normal (IE jack plug headset) as opposed to a USB one, the Plantronics Gamecom 380 is pretty good and fairly cheap (about £20 delivered), I've got one and it does the job pretty well.

I've not had any complaints about the sound quality/background noise despite usually using it with the TV on, and game sounds coming from the PC speakers (I'm a little odd in that I normally have two sound devices in the PC, one good one for things like game sound and films, and the second one used with a headset).
