MY financial status is in such a mess and I desperately need to take a step back and regroup.
My biggest issue is spending what I can't afford online - now I can't not have my internet as it is my main means of communicating and contact with my family and daughter who live a long distance from me ( phone is not feasible for contact as they are all on different mobile networks etc )
I have decided to start again with a new bank account and a new outlook on life.
I am not in debt to my current bank - Natwest - but they are unable to open an account for me without a debit card.
I have now applied for a Lloyds TSB basic account after reading that I can choose not to have a debit card.
Does anyone know how long after the online application process before I know if I have been accepted please? My credit history is very dire but I am working on it.
Plan is to start again, reset direct debits etc and contact benefits office to change my details and then hopefully catch up with what I am behind with etc
please don't have a go as I know that the mess I am in is my own doing and don't need to be brought down further, just want to know if it is a long process etc xxx

Sorry take no notice of me im thinking of First Reserve accounts they will have cash cards issued to existing customers soon.

This sounds you may be getting hit with recurring payments?
You need to contact the companies concerned, in writing, to tell them that you no longer require their services. Until you have done that, they have your ongoing authority to charge you, and to chase you for any unpaid debts.
You can't escape it by running to another bank.
It will just ruin your credit record completely if you don't deal with it.0 -
HSBC's basic account only has a cash card as well.0

Thanks Innovate. With regard to my card being registered I may need to explain further a little into my situation which is not something i have been able to do even with my cloest friends!
When we moved to Norfolk from the city 2 years ago, I found it a huge culture shock and felt then, as i do now, very isolated.
In my online ramblings, I had started playing online casinos and such like which saw me create a huge debt for my family and it is something that, only now, I feel able to discuss and accept and finally begin the positive move forwards.
Now I know this will be a long and difficult road for me and know that, should I have a debit card and the means to use it, that online gamling will always be there in my face on the days when I feel down - let's face it, the only thing it ever does is make you feel more down when you tot up your losses anyway but it isn't as straight cut as that.
I need to be able to move away from the ease of gambling online and the first step in doing that is to a) admit that yes, it has become a problem for me and b) take positive steps to remove it from my life.
First step is to change the banking situation so i am not able to simply click a button and deposit money.
Second step is to face all of my debts head on and stop burying my head in the sand.
Today, I am proud of myself because it is the first time in 2 years that I can honestly say i have a problem and I want to move forward from it xxxSealed Pot Challenge
