Can i ask a question about car ins... is this allowed??
My mum can get our insurance in her name (for credit check) so we can pay monthly and my husband and I are could be named as drivers and keepers of vehicle??
I don't want to break any rules but this maybe an option so we dont have to find £500 ish out right.. just after new baby arrives.. if not, then back to drawing board.
Thank you all for your advice so far..0 -
I jsut look at T&C's for car insurance.. swinton gave me policy but Allianz are actually on insurance cert as the insurer.. I cannot see anything that relates to BR... so if not mentioned can I assume that I dont have to let them know?
Renewal is June so not as soon as I had thought...
Just need to go check T&C's for contents policy now..
OR said that would contact life insurance policy people so I just wait to hear about that.
I am DREADING cost of car insurance premium at renewal...
The issue is when you went br, you have restrictions and one of those is that if you apply for credit over £500 you have to declare your bankruptcy. If your policy is going to cost over £500 and you want to pay monthly you will have to declare it.
By failing to do so you are breaking the terms of your br and also your insurance could be invalidated.0 -

Unfortunately by law the Insurance policy must be in the name of the main driver, the person who drives the vehicle most. Other named drivers must drive the vehicle less. So unless your Mum drives is the most that would be breaking the law."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0 -
I have had another look at our car ins documents and cannot see that we have to report BR whilst in current policy.
If I am not breaking any rules, I will wait till renewal and then call them to let the know.. then wait to see if they will let us pay monthly.. if not.. can anyone advise of a BR friendly insurer who lets you pay monthly?? also for house ins?0 -

You are missing the point.
If your renewal is for over £500, you are bound by the terms of your bankruptcy to declare your bankruptcy if you want to pay monthly . If you pay it all at once it is not credit. It is irrelevant that the provider does not do a credit check because you are an existing customer.
Please read the terms of your bankruptcy.0 -
Afaik when you pay car insurance monthly there is an intial large-ish figure that starts the policy off and then smaller payments for 9-11 months. The credit agreement is for the smaller payments added together so I wonder if the credit agreement amount might be for less than £500 Lisa once the initial payment was made at the start? I pay my car insurance monthly to the Co-Op and pay regular amounts for the whole year without a large sum to begin with.0
