Few questions now BR

Hello all

I am just going through household budget now that OR has approved our figures: (both me and husband are BR)

The following are soon due for renewal/ eligable for upgrade:

1. Husbands mobile phone contract with VF. He is going to go for a smaller contract with a standard phone. Does he have to declare he is BR at time of arranging upgrade (downgrade..) Contract will be for about £20 pm & will VF credit check at renewal?

2. Car insurance. If we stick with current insurer - so just renew, do we need to tell them that we are now BR? We pay
monthly and currently pay £59 pm

3. We currently have Virgin for TV, Phone and broadband - we are goping to use some of holiday budget so we can keep Sky sports for husband.. do we need to tell Virgin we are BR as we pay them monthly?? We have no arrears etc.. not listed in BR.

Any advice would be great as want to make sure we do everything by the book1

Thanks :)

I am just going through household budget now that OR has approved our figures: (both me and husband are BR)

No need to inform them, and as your already a customer they wont do a credit check (O2 dont anyway). hopefully someone with more specific VF experience will be along soon!
    2. Car insurance. If we stick with current insurer - so just renew, do we need to tell them that we are now BR? We pay
monthly and currently pay £59 pm
You need to inform your insurance companies (not just car) that you are BR!!! Some will allow you to carry on paying monthly, some wont. When I informed direct line of my BR, they allowed me to carry on my existing policy paying monthly, but told me that when it was due for renewal, pay monthly wouldnt be an option.

    3. We currently have Virgin for TV, Phone and broadband - we are goping to use some of holiday budget so we can keep Sky sports for husband.. do we need to tell Virgin we are BR as we pay them monthly?? We have no arrears etc.. not listed in BR.
No, no issues there, just carry on.

Any advice would be great as want to make sure we do everything by the book1

    Thanks :)

I jsut look at T&C's for car insurance.. swinton gave me policy but Allianz are actually on insurance cert as the insurer.. I cannot see anything that relates to BR... so if not mentioned can I assume that I dont have to let them know?

Renewal is June so not as soon as I had thought...

Just need to go check T&C's for contents policy now..

OR said that would contact life insurance policy people so I just wait to hear about that.

I am DREADING cost of car insurance premium at renewal...

    1. and 3. you don't need to declare BR, but they may credit check you or may not.

    2. Paying monthly is often not an option while BR as many agencies turn you down. I pay mine all up front and my premiums didn't change at all, but my fully comp cost is around £230 per year so an achievable amount to come up with. Not sure what I'd have done if my insurance cost a lot more.

So you are both Bankrupt and you have mobile phone, car, a holiday budget that you will break into so your husband can keep Sky Sports?

    The mind boggles.

Yes, a small budget for hol (uk), maybe butlins for the little one for a couple days - not talking of anything flash! We don't go out at all so stay in and watch tv when not at work, thats why letting husband keep sports... car is an old car and was only allowed to keep as my husband works funny hours.

We are grateful for what we have and don't take it for granted

Another one who thinks all bankrupts should wear hair shirts?

BR's are not forbidden from having anything they chose.

The SOA is simply an agreed set of allowances.

How one chooses to dispose of those allowances , is entirely for the BR individual.

There is, for example, and quite naturally, an allowance for haircuts.

The OR has better things to do than give the BR a physical examination to see if they are bald or not!
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Go and Troll somewhere else, you patently have no idea about BR, the implications, the workings of it, the impact emotionally.

Or at the very least change your daily paper from the Daily Mail to soemthing more suitable.
every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.
