Is that what happens in the UK or is that what the animal rights brigade claim happens? Did you read the thread?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

I do not see the difference with killing my pet cat and eating it than eating meat from a local store.
I have gave up meat a few years ago when i actually sat down and thought about how cruel it is.
It is so hard to avoid though, animal testing for drugs, leather clothes and sofas etc
It is just everywhere!!
Humans evolved eating meat especially fish and seafood, and we get various essential nutrients from it that are not in other natural wholefoods. If an animal dies for food I'd rather all the parts were used one way or another.
Doesn't your cat eat meat products?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Who is US? You sound like a self-appointed representative of the 'genuine' British race.
You assume that all the muslim people in this country are foreigners, and either willingly or out of ignorance ignore those who were born here and are British citizens, the same as (I assume) you are.0 -

Thank you for your unnecessarily patronising reply. I was talking about the practice of Halal in general terms, having been in a position to witness it being carried out both in the UK and in Arab nation states. I dislike both versions immensely.
No, as I come from a farming family im generally speaking not the sort of person the "animal rights brigade" chooses to enlist in their more extreme activities. They tend to hate farmers on principle despite the way most of them treat their animals better than their own family when times are tough!
Finally, yes I do read entire threads before replying. I would love to hear about your own personal experience and background on the issue - it must be far superior to my own, obviously, for you to treat other posters with such disdain.

I've never assisted to either, but I was under the impression that western styles can be as cruel as halal.
I'd be interested to hear why halal slaughtering to be worse than a commercial abattoir one (be graphic if you have to, it's only right that if we eat meat we face-up to how it gets to our plate...).
It would be good to add other informed opinions to this thread, as many people, like me, can only go by the information that is available through the media.0 -

To be honest, if you are buying organic and local produce, then you haven't got anything to worry about. The horse "scandal" is confined primarily to the cheap/frozen end of the market, where suppliers have outsourced to poorly regulated European contractors.
The UK has some of the highest animal welfare and production standards in the world, bar none. Buy British (look for the Red Tractor or UK assurance marks), and you won't find horse. Simple.

I learned to kill chickens when I was young, I have seen what goes on in a slaughterhouse. I have also seen the inside of a henhouse after a fox has had its fun in it.
I personally think there should be one recognised halal slaghterhouse in this country, that should be enough for the approximately 5% of the population who claim to be muslim That meat should be isolated and clearly marked to allow people to avoid buying it, same way muslim people want to avoid buying non-halal meat. Any halal meat imported should also be clearly marked as so.
.
do you think that one place could slaughter enough meat for thee million pople and how ver man non muslims choose to eat halal meatNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0
