1.3 cdti corsa diesel car juddering?

So basically I have 53 reg 1.3 corsa c cdti. When I put my foot down to accelerate to higher speeds the whole car judders or shakes. Spent enough money on trying to sort this problem out. Took it to a diesel specialist mechanic who plugged in a computer to a car could not find any fault codes. Took apart the EGR Valve said that there was muck inside it and needs cleaning. He did the cleaning got the car today still the same problem. Never had this kind of problem with a petrol car as I put my foot down in petrol cars and they accelerate smoothly with no juddering or shaking. This is my first diesel car only bought the car for the economy but now i'm wishing I shouldn't have and just kept my petrol car instead.

  • Diesel engines work in a completely different manner to petrol, if your in low revs at a high gear and put your foot down then the engine has to build up to the stage that it can actually give you power, which can cause the judder, 90% of the power in a diesel comes almost at the end of the gear ratio (at high revs), normally between 3 - 5k revs.

If you want to put your foot down and you're in low revs, change down a gear!

This should hopefully remedy your problem, if it's still happening after this then i'm lost, sorry

    Are you sure?
Most diesels have no noticeable power band.
  • on a straight injection diesel i would agree, however when there's a turbo (whether it be a physical one or naturally affluent(?) one)

there is a slightly more noticeable powerband, from my own experience anyway.

I'm not a mechanic and may be wrong, but as far as i'm aware, this is somewhat correct
