New to this ,so here goes.
My son bought a new bed with his saving from Dreams beds.
Bed came ,headboard damaged .I was told this by the delivery drivers .I called up at once and they said they'd replace i t in a few weeks time.
The day before the new headboard was due to arrive, they are supposed to call and let you know what time delivery wil be ,no one called
On the day of the promised deliver, I waited in all day, took day off ,as they said new headboard would be here .
I called
them and they said problem with warehouse ,will get back to you.
I asked for compensation for taking day off work ,no headboard ,numerous calls emails etc..
Now Dreams are saying they will only talk to my son ,as he's the one that paid for the bed with his card.
However he didn't take the day off for delivery ,as he was at school ,I did.
He has Asperger's syndrome and I am his appointee.
Dreams will not answer my emails nor calls ,but are bombarding him with calls ,which he can't handle .
I've told them to discuss anything with me and not him,but they say as he paid for the bed ,they're contract is with him.
They initially said they would offer compensation ,only after we email them when the headboard comes and we confirm in writing that it's in good condition.
I think if we do this ,they'll either not offer us anything ,or very little as they'll say we now have the headboard and are delighted with it .
Any advice greatly appreciated.

They are quite correct and are adhering to data protection legislation. You can't just verbally claim to be someone's representative, they either give you written authorisation (you can type up the letter on your son's behalf and he signs) OR you provide written evidence (eg. Power of Attorney).
I doubt you are entitled to compensation as you are not the customer, the customer's private arrangements for delivery are not Dreams' issue. With the benefit of hindsight you would have been better to order the item yourself since your son could not accept delivery nor deal with any problems, and certainly should not have accepted the item when you learned it was damaged.
IMO the way forward is to lodge your complaint and rejection of the damaged product in writing ASAP - use recorded delivery and retain the receipt.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
