    In my day at Lloyds in the 90"s they tended to look down their noses at people who did not use their overdraft. How things have changed!

    Yep, I remember those days, and the "buy now pay nothing for 3 years", "% credit card for 3 years" culture.....unfortunately, the british population at large had nil education how to handle this sort of credit. That's a massive part of the reason why so many people are struggling financially now.

    Haha, that comment was made tongue in cheek, I'm the first person to get involved in a conversation about the Empire, and I'm only in my twenties! I do, however, remember the handover ceremony in 1997! :D

    These banks were equally guilty of their own sins.

    RBS was the worlds largest bank when it collapsed in 2008. Operating in 57 countries. .


    HSBC was sound enough to raise capital from investors so did not require Government bail out.
