I decided to reactivate my account as I finally have fibre optic broadband (annoying in itself, since it is expensive but the normal speed in my area is 0.8 MB, making it impossible to watch anything online). Found a code for 3 months for the price of 1 if you reactivate and used it. The site said I couldn't use it because I'd reactivated once before. That's true, so fair enough. Decided to proceed anyway on the 4.99 plan.

Except, once I'd done so, it still didn't work and said that it was an inactive account when I tried to watch anything. Okay, annoyed now, I decided to cancel straight away and let the bank know not to pay, as I'd been a member for about five minutes and not watched anything at all.

When I went through cancellation process, I was offered 2 months for the price of one to stay. All right, I really want the account so I'll stay. Confirmed.

Try to watch a film again. Now I get a message saying the account is unauthorised! That's it, cancelling.

THEN I get an email saying my account has been activated. I go back and sign in to find they are saying I owe them 9.98  (how???) and they will want another 4.99 to reactivate the account again! I don't think so.

So now I'll still have to go to the bank and get them to refuse payment AND put £10 in in case that doesn't work and it goes through anyway.

I remember now why I cancelled previously. Never again.

I know I probably did something stupid that someone with more knowhow will tell me off for, but it's the double payment that's really annoyed me. Other problems may be due to my impatience but that is completely their fault. That and not actually having a message to let me know the account wouldn't be active as soon as I'd paid, which led to all the palaver in the first place.

Netflix 4 lyfe. AND they have a 24 hour phone line, unlike LF.

I rejoined love film instants recently on a £1 a month for 2 months deal, and had a similar problem with the activation (it took about 20 mins for the account to be activated), but I only got charged £1 for the 1st month - sounds like a glitch somewhere in their system.

Used to use love film both dvds/bluray/instant a while ago, and cancelled as we weren't watching it as much as we used to - but decided to reactivate the account and had no issues at the moment.

  • I got an email this morning confirming that they have removed the outstanding balance from the account and taken no money. So I guess this turned into praise!

I've also come down with a horrible cold which explains why I was so daft last night. Embarrassing...:o
