Proof Of name ID by post/driving licence

leaving aside other acceptable forms of name ID just thinking about driving licence new style with photocard when opening a building society account and leaving aside electronic verification of ID

my belief is that in person all thats needed is driving licence photo card + secondary ID as required for apparent reasons ie someone can look at your face and match it against picture so best name ID someone can get bar a passport

through post my belief is paper part of driving licence + extra forms of secondary ID than is req in person because no point sending photo card as photo could be anyone

anyone know if theres any hard and fast rules re this, if so pse post an official link

I don't get it that why some places will ID you via electronic verification to open an account and don't ask to see any other proof. Where as other places will ask to see copies of ID and some demand only the originals.

not all building societies have the software yet to validate electronically

reason im asking is cos cheshire BS ( i was existing member) which they said they couldnt locate cos was in dormant account returned all my ID and app form and cheque saying they needed driving licence photo card as well as paper part of driving licence

i had sent them original driving licence paper part/BT phone bill/water bill/credit card statement and personal cheque, i said to them u could have validated me electronically cos im on electoral roll they said failed twice but was ok on 3rd occasion they tried which was day i complained by coincedence,took them over 2 weeks before they sent it all back
also cheshire website cant accept complaints if more than 1000 characters:rotfl:
