'with collections' indicator been placed on account. No one at bank knows why.

Have you ever exceeded your overdraft limit or have been late or missed a credit card payment with any of the Lloyds banking group stable?0

Given all the facts it's clear there's no reason for the indicator to be against your account, and it's clear the bank are incapable of resolving the issue.
I would consider the two options:
1. Raise a formal written complaint requesting the marker be removed and failing this refer to the FOS
2. Move to another bank if your credit file is clean, as you say. Halifax are IME shockingly poor with customer service - as you're finding out.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Assuming the bank haven't reported anything negative elsewhere, it's basically a lending decision and therefore the OP can't insist it be removed.
They can always move elsewhere though.Given all the facts it's clear there's no reason for the indicator to be against your account, and it's clear the bank are incapable of resolving the issue.

If the OP is true and the truthfulness of it is doubtful*, the so-called "with collections" indicator ranks as an internal memo and has not been made public. Therefore not a lot can be done about it. I'd say that if it bothers you get a new bank account but in that case you will have to clear your debts to the bank immediately.
*It's an almost perfect troll post because no-one else has had the problem, at least a web search turns up no results. Therefore the post invites replies which are based more on ignorance than fact!0 -
As others have said, the 'with collections' flag is not something that would be passed to the credit reference agencies, so it's just visible to that particular bank.

Hello,
I took everything in again today and saw the same person in branch as yesterday. He spoke to someone in procedures who had heard of this thing happening before and said that he must contact a manger in collections for them to remove it as the person in procedures said that it shouldn't be there. However thats when we hit a brick wall. The collections department refused at first to pass the phone on to a manager. it was stressful. this went on for about ten minutes. then eventually a manger did come on who was in a pretty bad mood. It all ended up with the branch man logging a complaint/contacting customer services who he thought would have a better chance of sorting it out. he is going to call me on monday/tues to let me know.
In answer to previous posts, yes I did go over my overdraft limit about 9 years ago when I was a student. this I got charged for etc. However I haven't received letters since then to say there is a problem on my account.
I know that this 'with collections' is an in house decision and won't affect my credit, but it just seems unfair (especially as I am not 'with collections and all that nor have I received a charge for being in arrears for almost a decade!) as it basically means I can never receive any future credit with them ever.
If this stays there, I will look elsewhere for a new account as soon as I pay off my overdraft with the bank.
PS. to the person that said I was a troll. By that do you mean that you think this is a fake post. that is just nuts, why would anyone write a fake post about this?
thanks to everyone. i hope it gets sorted out.0 -
If you / the branch staff can't get through to the relevent person then your only realistic option is a formal complaint. Basically the collections department would have to justify the marker to customer relations and assuming it is in error they would then remove it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Banks can lend to who ever they wish. There is no right to credit of any kind.
Suggest you channel your energies into sorting out your personal financial issues. As its these which will impact your future. Not the internal workings of the bank.0 -
Life is way too short for the amount of time you seem to have spent on this

Just get a new account, then write to your old one and tell them to close your account as their service is rubbish.
Banks do set internal markers, which can last as long as you are with them.:beer:0
