Fags used to be the same price in all tabacs in france, just look for the red ( sure it was red) tabac sign.

Theres always the big Auchan nearby.
  • People seem to concentrate on fags and booze but we like to bring back things like goats and sheep's cheese, both soft and hard types, duck breasts, olives, large tins of cassoulet etc. Pick up the special offer leaflet at the entrance of the supermarket to get some ideas.

I asked about ciggys as I am buying for other people (GIFT!) but I will be buying all the things you mention for me (and possibly my family :rotfl: )

I use a fairfx card, it's a pre paid mastercard which charges you nothing when purchasing items, although there a €1.50 charge for using ATMs. Very good and very reliable.

Hi-vis vests are required for all car occupants, as are a few other items.

No they aren't - they are legally required just for driver and must be within reach of driver. you can of course choose to take a few for each occupant which would be sensible but certainly is mot required

One thing many Brits forget is that you mist produce ALL the documents for occupants and the car when requested by a Gendarme. This means passports plus drivers driving license. Plus car registration doc. MOT, insurance, warning triangle.
As already stated you need a hi-vis and it must be within reach of the driver at all times.
