PPI claim with MBNA

Hi All

Would appreciate some advice

I have just received a questionaire through the post from MBNA with regards to the mis-selling of PPI insurance on my credit card

It states
You have been identified as a customer who belongs to a group of customers who may have been mis-sold PPI. Our records show that you purchased your PPi during a period when the sales issues we have identified may have occurred.

I pay my crecit card payment by DD and dont really may much attention to my statements (which are online) other than checking my balance so wasn't really aware that I had PPI.
I took the policy out online so didnt speak to anyone directly regarding taking out PPI cover however I have read a lot about the use of pre-ticked boxes. How can I ascertain if the PPI box could have been pre-ticked when I applied for the card?
I would not have purposely checked this box as I have excellent sick cover through work along with an additional insurance scheme which will cover my bills if made redundant etc so essentially would not have needed this type of cover

Also is this now common practice the credit card companies to send out these questionaires?

It is if they've been fined for it.
You can't find out if they were pre-ticked or not. MBNA and all other companies will not admit to having provided opt-out boxes.
You'll have to fill it in as best as you can remember. If you don't remember, say you don't remember.

Yes, all lenders have to be pro-active in informing customers if a widespread sales process fault is identified.

Remember that you are basically being invited to complain by the Bank, who have already identified that you may have been mis-sold, so you are immediately advantaged compared to other complainants.

Just fill in the questionnaire as fully and honestly as you can, then sit back and see what the Bank offer.
  • Hi, I got an experian report as I new i had mbna loan and credit cards some years ago, got the account number from my experian report and printed mbna questionnaire from there website could not remember if I had ppi or not but just bluffed it, 2weeks later got letter saying they were looking into my claim and would contact me by 8th feb, on the 9th feb I got a letter saying my complaint was upheld and quoted 3 account numbers said they are working out my refund and I would receive this within 12 weeks:-)
