problem loading page apple/firefox

Im new'ish to the wonderful world of apple but I keep finding a glitch which is starting to annoy me.
When I try and go on to certain websites, using firefox as my browser, the page wont load up and I get a warning box which states "problem loading page, server not found, firefox cant find the server at etc etc"
However I then go on the same site with safari and it works fine.
Has anyone got any ideas what the problem is, or more importantly, what the solution is.
