Ebico insist I have to change my meter to go on their standard tariff??
I got my first bill today from Southern after swapping to ebico and noticed they have put me on the Economy 7 tariff when I wanted to go on their standard tariff.I have rung them up and they said there is no other way to do it but to change the meter because the one I have is a duel meter.Surely adding the two reading is not too complex a task for them.It seems a ridiculous thing to have to do.Have other people experienced this or are they pulling my leg??

Same when I applied to go off E7, had to have the meter changed. Free of Charge tho.Maybe there is a shortage of E7's.0

BG are implementing the same policy. It's nothing to with with a shortage of E7 meters, apparently it's because they still pay for electricity at day and night rates.0

I hope not retrospectively!
I have a E7 meter but am not on Economy 7 rates. For the last few years they have simply added up the units used and I am charged at 'Normal' rates.
e.g. if the night meter reads, say 1,000kWh and the daytime meter 5,000kWh, I am billed for 6,000kWh like any person on a 'Normal' tariif.0 -

BG's meter agents changed 1 of parents 2 meters (less than 2 years old) for a dual rate meter. Didn't need or want a dual rate meter.
Last meter reader only read the dual meter and only read rate 1.
My 10 year old could probably do a better job of reading the meters properly and creating an accurate bill.0 -
Siemens changed my old meter, on which was written 'Property of Eastern Electric'.
The engineer dis-membered the old meter, kept part of it, I further stripped it down for the screws and binned the remainder.
He was here 2 hours and plus travel...say £30 minimum.
I suppose these things are rented to the provider, and they can insist on the proper type.0
