Selling but no Service History

3 years ago, I purchased a 2nd hand car, car was advertised with FSH, on the day I collected the car, there was no service history, manager said, all service history are removed from vehicles, and to return with 24/48 hours to collect the FSH
I returned but to no avail, this went on for weeks, the manager said they'd contact the previous owner to obtain a FSH, in the end, the manager admitted they'd "mislaid" FSH.
Having spoken to TS at the time, it was difficult to prove the car was advertised with FSH, signage was only on the car, which was removed at purchase.
So, I'm about to trade in my car, but without FSH, it's an 05 plate, do I need FSH prior to purchasing the car?

Most main dealers have the service history on their computer system, worth asking them. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

A very similar thing happened to me last year. Except they said all the service history was on Mazda's DSR (digital record).
When I came to pick up the car I'd already decided that if they never had the FSH I would still buy it anyway in the hope I could get it off Mazda - turns out Mazda had no service history other than the very first one.
I've resigned myself to the fact that selling it without (at least privately) will mean a drop in value.
This can be reduced however by you having your own service history for the last 3 years.
Moral of the story I've learned ... Once you have paid (even a deposit) the salesman will do NOTHING for you unless absolutely forced to, and certainly won't do anything agreed to verbally.0
