Bathroom Spruce Up Cheap as Possible

Hi, Hope the collective moneysaving brains on here can help.
We need to try (due to shortage of funds) and give the bathroom in our new house a makeover.
At the momemnt it has an all white suite - which is good but the downside is it has a wet-room floor - a sort of bluey green hard vinyl type thing. It is a properly constructed wet-room facility as it slopes into the corner where the shower is with a plastic drain set into it.
Problem is the floor covering looks really shabby (stained and marked)- have tried everything to clean it up but it will not come up to scratch. I wondered if it could be painted in some way - maybe a matt black/grey to make it look more modern and obviously tidier.
If this is possible Im wondering what sort of special paint I'd need to achieve this.
Any help gratefully received. many Thanks.

have you tried leaving neat domestos on it for an hour or two, test a small patch first. and don't get it near the waste, it ruined the chrome effect on ours! Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0

Thanks for the reply - Ive tried bleach but not left it how you suggest.
Problem is we still hate the colour tho even if it was totally clean.
Found since my first post that its called an altro floor - has like a speckled finish.0 -
interesting. i searched for it because i wondered what flooring the council uses on wet room floors as i could never find the stuff and flooring companies just told me it was very expensive. looks similar.
anyway they seem to make specific cleaning products http://www.altro.com/en-gb/product/accessories/altro_floor_cleaning_products.aspx
painting sounds extreme and i wonder if it would look adequate if it did work. (they seem to indicate it should last 15 years.)0 -
maybe you could tile it in those small mosiac tiles? you would need to find the suitable/correct adhesive though?Get some gorm.0
