It seems that's the only new policy he's thought of.

Still, no new ideas from Labour on the economy.

And even then he won't say categorically that if elected in 2015 they'll do it.

Labour messed it up when they were in power, destroying the strong economy created by the Tories after the previous Labour debacle. I can't see Labour getting back into power for a long time yet because, no matter what is said on here, people in the know realise what a bad job Labour have done and won't trust them again for a long time - and after borrowing has come well down.

A conservative win is likely as long unemployment carries on a falling trend. People may not love the tories but they will feel things are on track.

Yep, when the country is in trouble the Tories always get elected. They've run the UK for far longer thasn Labour have.

    Milliband:
He has to be the most inept opposition leader since Michael foot.
In to the wilderness they go again.

They need to sack him and elect someone with the Balls to stand up to this wicked rich serving coalition.
Ed-Balls is the only voice they have who can shout down the coalition.
He can think quickly on his feet in debate and has a memory for mistakes to throw back at them.
They need him NOW, before they drift out in to the wilderness any further.
The coalition is held together by Clegg, the man who has made the Lib Dems unelectable for a whole generation.
A strong opposition leader could tempt the ranks of Lib dems to jump ship and save themselves .
This could ultimately force a general election.
This coalition only exists because labour have a "damp cloth" leader.
    Be happy...;)

Are you serious or playing a very straight faced wind-up. I've found that about the only person people wouldn't want to swap Ed M for as Labour leader is Balls. They either dislike how he comes across or hold him accountable for the previous government.

First question I would ask is would a mansion tax really raise enough to fund this sort of a major change in taxation?

Its not exactly a mansion tax, there are normal streets in London with average prices over 2mil.

All jostling for position as the vote catching ideas come into play...Tories had their own yesterday with the limit on benefits for overseas visitors.
To be fair Miliband has urged the government to introduce the 10p tax in the next budget...but the target of £10,000 tax free allowance is still to be completed.
Hard to say who wins the next election....nobody won the last one when it should have been easy for the Tories as the economy was broken.
Labour or Lib/Lab will introduce the mansion tax it seems with the introduction of new council tax bands....maybe the Tories will revamp the bands also...lets see.

If they get to the £10K threshold it will probably have done as much good. Just need to keep it index linked.

The 10% is politicking as unless you know how big the band would be it may be close to useless.

With both of these measures increasing NI has eroded any real benefit.

Why do the valuation bands need to be re-jigged just introduce some top end ones to give additional bands as suggested by a PP?
