    Yep. As in post #4.

But the OP came back with extra Qs so there was still confusion... no need to be so precious - you don't have sole ownership of responses!
    :hello:

'To be eligible for SC Clearance', I would assume to be a citizenship thing, ie: you Must be a British Citizen - someone correct me if I'm wrong :)

You have to have been a resident of the UK for a minimum of 5 years.

You do not have to be a British citizen. :o

I don't really think there's any need to be so niggly... :D
  • I didn't feel the need to refer YOU back to post # 4. YOU are not the only person reading this thread.

Calm down... Goodness me. Now who's being the precious one?

    Now this is clearer.

To be eligible for SC, you have to have a sponsor complete the registration and on applying for a job which requires SC clearance, you will be given a questionnaire to complete and it has to be completed by a sponsor who works for the MOD. If you're applying for a position via an agency, then the agency should guide you on the process for security clearance. If you're not dealing directly with children/vulnerable adults then IT positions are not subjected to ECRB and the jobs are exempt from ECRB. Whoever you apply to will give you the questionnaire, they'll likely be sponsored by the MOD. You cannot in any way shave off any time applying yourself. You're not allowed.
    HTH.

Thanks that helpful. I find these processes quite confusing.

Without disclosing any detail I work for a BIG UK company and moved to a dept where as part of my daily job I access sensitive data which are regularly being searched by legal authority in UK. I work for this dept from last 3+ years.

Does that mean my company need to get me SC'ed (Security Cleared) or it is possible my HR must have already done that.
Is that something I can directly ask my HR rather than asking my Dept head.

If I am not SC'ed can I request my HR for one?
I am in the impression once anyone get this SC he can work for any industry where there is a need of SC.

An organisation showing concern can raise this issue with your employer, nothing for you to get involved with.
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.
  • I don't get it. I'm having issues with my disclosure. On here, it clearly states that enhanced checks are for positions where you may be working with children or vulnerable adults. I am employed by a temp agency at a car factory and they are running enhanced checks.
