Help with Windows Mail/Gmail

Hi everyone
Firstly, I'm really sorry if I'm being seriously dim.
I use Gmail but, because I get loads of emails and can't file them easily, I use popmail to send them through to Windows Mail which works perfectly, or did until four hours ago.
I've just logged in to check my business emails to find that, rather than having the email contents within the actual message, everything is now contained in either htm or txt attachments - this includes emails which were perfectly "normal" when I checked them before logging out. I now have to open the attachments to see the email contents and it's going to cause me problems when I have to forward on emails deleting some parts of them.
I've had a look at the Gmail and Windows Mail help pages but can't see anything obvious there.
Windows Mail has seriously slowed down since I last logged in as well, it's taking ages to do anything.
My PC works on Vista.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
No, the email is set up OK, I've been using it for 3 years with no problems and the emails are still forwarding through from gmail to Windows Mail.
The problem is with the way the emails in Windows Mail are formatted as of 4 hours ago. Instead of the text being visible within the body of the email it's now all contained within an htm attachment with any attachments being added as separate htm attachments - if that makes sense?
Thanks again. The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Forwarding involves sending received messages to another address. Are you sure that's what you're doing?0 -

Hi
Sorry, probably bad choice of word
Anyone sending me an email sends it to my gmail address, this routes through to Windows Mail via popmail and I use Windows Mail to deal with/answer the email.
Thanks for your help. The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Windows Mail 'pulls' (downloads) messages from Gmail; POP is just the language used for communication.
Note: POPmail is also the name of a very old email client.0 -
Hi
Thanks for that, sorry for any confusion, I'm not sure of the correct terminology.. That's what's happening currently.
Can you help with explaining why the format of the emails in Windows Mail has changed and why the text of the email is now in an htm attachment?

There was a minor blip earlier but I've no idea whether it's related. Might even be an issue with WM itself...0

Could this be relevant?Outlook Express message appears blank and has an ATT000XX.txt or an ATT000XX.htm attachment:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312351- OLEXP: Message Appears Blank and Has an ATT000XX.txt or ATT000XX.htm Attachment. Besides the problem described in this article with temporary files, Outlook Express may have a blank message if Internet Explorer is set at View, Encoding to Auto-Select. If so, disable the Auto-Select in Internet Explorer and choose instead Western European (ISO).
- If your program has an option to read HTML messages in Plain Text, the HTML version of the message may appear as an ATT0001.HTM attachment (the number may vary). See: Outlook Express 6 and Outlook 2002. The same feature is available in other programs including Vista Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail.

Yes, that's exactly what's happening, thank you.
I'll have a look at it tomorrow morning and see if I can sort it out, going cross-eyed now.....
