We applied to the family fund for some driving lessons for my wife inorder for her to take my son about. He is 5 years old and we currently get middle rate dla for him.
We have got a lady coming round next week from family fund to speak to us. We are really nervous as to what she is going to ask etc...
Does anyone have any experiance of this and possible give us an insight so we are prepared.
Thank You

Please dont be nervous. i applied for this some years ago and the lady who came was SO nice
she asked about my sons problems and what we had applied for and how it would help.
it was all quite relaxed and i felt loads better after as i actually felt that she had listened and understood what we were going thru (unlike many others who hadnt)
hope that helpsWhen you know better you do better0 -
dont be worried it is just routine and they are lovely
as the previous post said they just ask you about your sons needs ect
i had one come visit me many years ago when i first claimed and that is the only time that someone has been round

I had a visit yesterday. They asked loads of questions about my child and spoke to the child. They then read, school and medical reports.
I was told I would have a decision within 4 weeks.
Has anyone ever been turned down by the family fund?0 -

I know someone who was turned down. Her daughter has progressive deafness and learning difficulties. In her mum's words (although I'm sure the FF didn't phrase it this way), her daughter 'isn't disabled enough'.
I also know a family who have been turned down because their income is too high - they have several disabled children, and the rules changed a couple of years ago to include all benefits as income.0 -
My application was succesful. I'm so pleased. Family fund is great and for a first application it was prossed very quickly.0

We had to cancel our initial app for a home visit due to a family emergency.
Family Fund rang us last week saying all the funding had been used and they are currently not doing and more applications till as least may/june time if they get more funding.
So were really not happy about this.0 -
