Ipad - listening to podcasts and itunes U question

I've recently got myself an ipad and have been playing around with it. I've downloaded a lot of podcasts and historical stuff from itunes U. Do I have to be connected or in a wifi area in order to listen to these, or do I download them manually - if that makes sense, on every course, so that they are on the ipad and I can listen to them, for example, on a plane.

Apologies, I tried googling for the answer but it didn't seem to throw up a definitive answer. Thanks in advance.

  • Fingers crossed I don't tell you the wrong thing as I'm about 10 years behind with technology :rotfl:

My understanding is that you download items such as podcasts to your iTunes account and once you sync your device to iTunes you are able to listen to that podcast as many times you like until you delete it from your device and your iTunes account. You don't need a wireless connection to listen to them.

Incase you don't know you can also download items straight from bbc iPlayer (over a wireless connection) to your device although they do have an expiry on them.

    Enjoy!

If they're in iTunes on your PC, you need to Sync the iPad to the iTunes library.

Then you'll find them in the 'More' tab when you select Music on the pad... and you can listen to them anywhere.
