I'm pleased for you that the insurance company is dealing with you. I witnessed a Romanian lorry force a car off the road on the M20 in Kent a few years back. The lorry didn't stop so I phoned police with the registration details but the lorry caught the ferry before they could stop him.
Months later the injured car driver contacted me to say thanks and he told me the lorry driver had disappeared back to Romania and the police can't get him. The car driver's insurance company said it wasn't worth trying to trace the lorry back to Romania so all cost went down to the car driver's insurance.
The police told him that this happens frequently in Kent and it's normal practice for foreign lorry companies to hide their drivers & not send them back to a country where they have an accident so they don't have to pay or go to prison if serious. Justice can't take place.
I see lots of people giving foreign lorries on the M20 a two lane wide berth when overtaking nowadays. Seems a good idea. There are too many accidents where the left hand drive lorries pull out against you if you are parallel with them.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Does it mean that if I accept the money than I'm liable. That doesn't make sense.
They are simply settling on a without prejudice basis. Ie they arent admitting anything so technically liability is still an open question but your claim is being paid.
It would mean that if in the future further damages were presented that the question of liability could be raised again.0
