Never Been Billed?!?

If your supplier doesn't resolve a problem in 8 weeks, never mind since Aug 2011 you can take it to the Energy Ombudsman.

You could also ask both supplier & ombudsman to consider the back billing guidance which may limit your liability to 12 months usage if the supplier is found at fault

sorry guys I don't get online everyday my little boy keeps me very active, especially after work! last winter we didnt use the heating as when he was first born he was in hospital for 5 months so he wasn't at home, and this winter we used the heater in his room in the evenings but in the day its ok so dont put the heating on, they are rarely on, The consumption to me just seems that bit over the top seeing as we only have elec and compared to others in the same house status and family size as us we are using about double so seems strange to me. I have asked them to send someone to look at the meter to clarify that it definately is working fine then I can accept its our usage, I will definately get my landlord to check the emersion heater, and send a mail to the ombudsmon because they really arent getting back to me and im just shocked it has taken many many months! thanks for all your comments, nice to hear some friendly advise hopefully something will come of my situation

Electricity is much more expensive than gas per KWH so heating and hot water are much more expensive, no idea why you think it should be cheaper. Family size is largely irrelevant, it's your insulation and personal habits that are the key. Again consider your laundry and showering habits but by all means get everything checked out.
The ombudsman will want to see evidence you have exhausted EDF's formal complaints procedure and reached stalemate or been stonewalled, generally that means writing a letter or two of complaint as well as any calls or e-mails. Writing letters also protects you if EDF try to take legal action, copies of your letters plus proof of posting is evidence that you are not ignoring bills but querying or disputing them and trying to reach resolution.
