Bravo Cameron.
As he says, it's simple common sense.
I hope he pulls this off, though he's already being attacked as "removing access to justice".

My vote to stay in the EU, so long as the changes we require and stuff like this happens, come the referendum will now most likely be to stay in.The Prime Minister said he wants to limit immigrants' access to British public services to ensure that the UK is “not a soft touch”.
Mr Cameron has said that he wants to reform the system allowing immigrants access to housing, the health service, the justice system and benefits.
His comments came amid a growing debate about the numbers of new migrants preparing to come to the UK next year.
Twenty nine million Bulgarians and Romanians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in Britain in 2014 under European “freedom of movement” rules.
The Prime Minister chaired a ministerial working group yesterday during which he questioned members of the Cabinet about ways to withhold some benefits from immigrants.
I hope he pulls this off, though he's already being attacked as "removing access to justice".

Don't have a problem with that at all.
Seems perfectly reasonable.
Keeps the bigots happy that something is being done about what is essentially a non-existent problem, and it won't noticeably reduce immigration levels, so we get the growth and population increase needed.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Limit access to the justice system? That seems unreasonable.
I've no problem with the rest of it as it's what I signed up to when I emigrated.0 -
i f you want to come and live here , you should a, have a job lined up before you get here , b, not be taking a job that can be done by someone who is already a uk citizen , and c , not recieve a penny in benifits until you have worked and paid tax for 5 years0

I may be wrong, but I took it as using the justice system to hide behind. There;s been a few high profile cases recently where the justice system seems to have protected the immigrant and in some cases, illegal immigrants. We, as taxpayers also pay for this.
We've seen examples of how Spain simply deports illegal immigrants. France does too. But for some reason, we have to jump through multiple hoops.
As I say, I may be wrong, but I can't imagine Cameron is suggesting a legal immigrant would be unable to use the justice system if they were a victim of crime.0 -
Free Loaders is not a swear word.
Politicians who claim an ipad on expenses days before pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice and standing down. Now that IS a swear word.Counting the beans : £1

I doubt we will see any attempt to stop immigrants from e.g. Getting legal aid if accused of murder. I expect it is more about not paying immigrants legal aid so they can retain expensive QCs to fight against govt decision to deport them for being an illegal immigrant.0 -

Hmm, I still have my doubts.
Surely unfettered access to justice is one of the things that keeps a democracy democratic, no? Surely someone who migrates to a country legally and is then deported illegally should have some right of appeal. There shouldn't be endless and taxpayer funded appeals I agree.
I guess it depends on the definition.0 -

Depends on whether it is legal entry. I guess if you throw away your papers that must be questionable."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
