They have offered nothing so far and phone call was a week ago - no deposit refund yet but a bouquet of flowers with an apology. Sent preliminary letter this morning asking for deposit to be returned, so will wait and see0

.They are demolishing this month - literally immediately moving staff etc. We have relatives flying over from Australia with flights booked for early May, time booked off work etc - it's a total nightmare!!
Ahh. I was hoping it would be slightly later which may have made it easier. I can see that you've posted on the wedding board too and the ladies there are really helpful. Whereabouts, in general, are you looking as someone may be able to find a venue that perhaps you have missed.
The only concern is that you may have to shell out first before getting anywhere with the company.0 -

We'll be better able to give opinions on how to deal with it once they've replied. We could advise all sorts atm only for the company to turn round and agree to cover all reasonable expenses.
In the meantime, as above if you have legal cover....contact them.
But at the end of the day, once a contract is agreed, neither party can withdraw without being responsible for the losses reasonably incurred by the other due to their breach.
Unfair contract terms guidance (provided by OFT) state:6.1.2 Excessive rights for the supplier. Cancellation of a contract by the supplier can leave the consumer facing inconvenience at least, if not costs or other problems. Where that is so, a unilateral right for the supplier to cancel without any liability to do more than return prepayments is likely to be
considered unfair
Does the contract/T&C's make no mention of consequential loss/liability in event of their cancellation? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
