How soon before I'm homeless? Urgent

  • that's not an option for me. Do you flat share?

It doesn't sound like living on your own is a very good option at the moment either.

I had a few flat/house shares before I bought my place. All fine, all meant I paid less than 600 quid rent. There's all kinds on people from every background and situation looking for flat mates. I refuse to believe its an utterly impossible thing to think about.

No, so I'd say that he's either here on a visa with no recourse to public funds, he has tied up capital that he can't access that prevents access to means tested benefits or his health issues have made this type of paperwork too difficult.

It is possible to get HB backdated if there is any entitlement.

What sweeping assumptions!! Or it could just be that someone was thwarted for some other reason? Or the stress of dealing with it all got too much?
I agree though if there is entitlement it can be backdated and the link is helpful.

To be fair to the poster, there aren't many other possibilities and the OP has refused to address this question even though it's been asked a few times.

It's very relevant too - if the OP can actually make a claim and get it backdated, it could go a long way to solving the problem.

I'm sorry maybe I'm odd, but I don't think coming on here and asking for help, gives other people/posters the right to do enter into some kind of indepth speculation/character anaylsis on what might be the individual's personal situation.

Yes ask a question, and if it doesn't get answered fine. If you can't give a full answer or help through lack of information also fine. Why put them down more than they already are?! Being honest is one thing. ? One could just as easily have said.......

"Well we can't advics further on why you didn't get HB if we don't know all the facts."

  • This is the nature of public forums. They are very different to real life.

You've been here a while, I'm surprised that you're still so prickly about people making assumptions?

LOL it never ceases to amaze me how public forums seem to give people some kind of outlet for saying things to others than they would never say in real life. It's also the main reason why they get closed down because they become too resource hungry for owners to manage.

Forum messages can have consequences and cause upset and distress to other people, I'm just old fashioned and picky in that I don't like that :)

I already live in one of the outer boroughs. I'm not even on the tube line or main bus routes. We're not talking a swanky central London situation here.

Are you south west London by any chance? Move to SE much cheaper, though personally I'd only live in Bromley or Greenwich Borough. We pay £650 in Bromley centre, excellent links to central london.

Not sure why my outlining various scenarios to explain reasons why some tenants are not eligible for housing benefit is causing you so much distress - it would go a long way to resolving the OPs issues if he qualifies for it, otherwise posters could put more emphasis on other solutions if he's definately not eligible. Some claimants don't realise that HB can be backdated because other benefits have much greater restrictions.

The OP has had lots of positive advice and I feel his fragile state has been taken into account.

and you're paying 1000pm for an unsafe area!

    Why?

I fail to see how (potentially) putting youself in 12k of debt and getting evicted is going to be less stressful that filling in a few forms to get HMG to pay your rent.
