Couple of questions if you would be so kind to answer of them
Roughly how much are people making per hour?
Do you need to handle the Tax and NI side of things?
ThanksOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -

Thanks for the info, I have had all but one of my reviews at the good levels so to speak and overall have good scores for the 6 months, but I have worried about the min task requirement as with 4 kids it can be a bit hard fitting work in. But as youngest starts school in Sept my hours will be able to go up then, IF I am renewed.

I dont have a degree, although I think the application suggests it would be an advantage. They didn't check my qualifications or references. TBH they have their test and its pretty tough so I suppose they figure if you can pass that you can do the work no matter what quals you do or don't have.

Because of the non disclosure agreement you cannot say how much you get per hour, but some stuff like study and taking of the test at the start as well as ongoing study of the rules and example work is all unpaid. The actual hourly rate for the work you do is pretty good, definately well above min wage and far more than shop work or simular part time work would pay.
I expected the work to be quite basic and easy like crowdsourcing type tasks, but it is harder than that and I find more interesting.
Yes you have to sort out tax and NI yourself.

Also, don't forget ABH. They also offer a maximum of 20 hours per week and I think this is guaranteed at 4 hours per day. However at LF, if you can do tasks at flexible times and choose to do them, you will likely surpass this, even in bad months, and can easily go way way past this in good months. As someone has said the lionbridge contract is 11 months. At LF you are reviewed and if good enough, renewed every 6 months, which is much better in my opinion. I think I have seen someone who has been working there for 5 years now.
I don't know about the community aspect at LB and ABH, so I can't compare, but I have been very satisfied with the community at LF. It is very helpful to go into chat and look at the profiles of some of the common users. Some of these users have extensive guides on browser extensions to help time tracking, paying tax, tips and just about anything related to the job. You'll get an almost immediate response from other raters in chat.
Also, I would probably apply for all of them because it might not be a case of you being able to choose which one you work for. The testing process has a very high failure rate, I think at all three companies. If you get onto any of them you have done well. Maybe go for the one you prefer and concentrate on that first and then if you fail, you have still got another two chances with the remaining two companies.
Good luck, whatever you choose.0 -

Appen Butler-Hill. There's a thread somewhere on here for them too.0 -
thanks kratosthegreat
looked into them. I will await the leap force application response and then move on to another if unsuccessful. Fingers crossed though.

Did the online application for this earlier today. Fingers crossed I'll get enrolled.
Can anyone who does this already give me some idea of what it is they do, how long they spend doing it, and how much they make from this? Thanks0
