Have looked at LB, but unfortunately I don't think I will fit their criteria.

I don't have a degree and have been a SAHM for the last 5 or 6 years. Other than doing some online text writing for various companies my CV is bare. Was hoping for work via a company that asks you to do a test so I can prove what I am able to do.

    Thanks anyway.

I'm a SAHM too. I do have a degree (Teacher) but not worked for 9 years. Definitely give it a go.

LF work is more flexible than LB in that you can do as many hours as are available whereas I believe with LB you can only do 20 per week max. The contract with LB is only 11 months with no renewal but LF do renew raters every 6 months if you are doing a good job.
  • I don't have a degree but submitted my CV to LB and they accepted me, same with LF.

In the end decided to go for it with Lionbridge whilst they are recruiting and see what happens. If no luck will keep an eye out for when LF next recruit.

TBH regarding hours I am fitting around the kids so tbh wouldn't want any more than 20 hrs max anyway. 3 eldest are full time in school, but youngest isn't full time till next September, although does do 15 hrs a week at pre-school. Although can do some at weekend and evenings.

Not sure what they pay, but will see. Thanks for the info.

    Hi all

New to Leapforce - passed the exams. :j

    Couple of questions -
    1) payment. Do you get prompted to send in your invoices, or do you just do them at the beginning of every month?

    2) How do you know how long a task will take before you pick it up? Just picked one up and took a while to get through it - can you sign off half way through and pick up later?

    Thanks

  • Hi, bylromarha

    a) You can't submit the invoice until the end of the month - I'm quick off the mark to submit so can't tell you if they prompt you to do so.

    b) You usually see a length of time that a task should take when they become available to you. When I've 'abandoned' a task (my computer closed down thanks to a power cut) it's been back in my queue, labelled as uncompleted, and I've had to start again from the beginning.

I think I had about 7 different tasks to do in part 2. I got that email when I had failed the first time round but then I got the chance to do the exam again and passed part 2. I'm still not sure that I really did anything that differently the 2nd time round. It did take me longer than 30 mins though.

Hi melf1nn, do you remember how long before LF gave you a 2nd. chance to take Part 2? hours? days? weeks?

    THANKS

I'm pretty sure they don't prompt you. One month I didn't submit my invoice until the 3rd and I still got paid the same day as everyone else.

It did say the time the task should take - however, it didn't tell me that there would be a series of tasks of that length of time.

Expected a short sharp burst and 90 minutes later I'd finished all the cycles

Is that common? And if they get abandonded mid way through, would you go back to the beginning of all the tasks?

You do not have to do all the tasks in the cycle. Depending on the task type there is normally a 'Submit and Stop' button. Otherwise you could release the task, or simply just log out the tool bar. If you do just log out, the task will stay in your queue for 2 hours. If you do not return to it within two hours it will simply expire and you will have to acquire a new task.

If you stop half way through you don't have to start all the tasks again, each task is submitted indivdually.

Just gone NRT here after almost 5 hours for the first time in a while.

    Another question - sorry!

If the task is for x time and you take less time than that to complete the task, do you invoice for the time allocated to the task, or the time it actually took you.

In other words, if I finish the tasks within time, is it worth waiting out the seconds allocated to the task?

    Thank you!
