Or
Until THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL crisis struck
I am not buying that, and there are many who are not buying that, but it is the ONE excuse Labour has used with miniscule success for the mess they got us into.
Yes many countries around the world went belly up, USA, Ireland, Iceland to name just a few. But we never went down because of them, we went down WITH them.
It's like the old classic from when your good old Mum was tanning your backside with "If they jumped over a cliff into a lake would you follow them"
Well yes we did.
And I honestly believe before the day is done we might even be seen as one of countries in the worst mess, try looking at our national debt and debt commitments, if you think the USA is scary(and it is) look at ours.0 -

Yep get your Labour party in just over two years time, then when they give us our new winter of discontent I am just hoping we might wake up enough to get a strong leader who is going to have one hell of a stinking job sorting this mess out.
So to summarise, they are all the same but wait until Labour get in it will be a right mess, mmm I am sure there is some logic in there somewhere

Well putting your sarcasm to one side yet again!!
You have kindly made my point for me while trying to be clever, yes I hope Labour(in some ways) get into power so people like you find out that there is nothing they can do that is in any different from what the Tories were doing.
THEN!!! after you and the millions of people like you discover there is no nice quick easy fix solution we can get down to the job in hand.
Maybe that is still a little too difficult for you, to "summarise", when YOU find out that Labour are no different from the Tories you will stop whinning and moaning about how hard it is and just knuckle under and except we are paying for the excesses of pre 2007.0 -

One prime example of this was the Tories ideal of taxing non-doms. Labour promptly stole this idea and then watered it down.
Labour have no ideas because their ideas got us in this mess to begin with.
So Labour stole its ideas from the Tories and that is how we got into this mess by following those policies. If you say so!
As the Tories have said we have a fixed term Parliament, I cannot see why Labour would publish any policies for the next year or so. Are the Lib Dems posting any yet ?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Glad you said pre 2007, we have been in decline for decades.
We sold the silver, the natonal assets, chased cheap labour round the globe to maximize profit,, we were allowed on more than one occasion to mortgage ourselves silly, then the governements did it themselves all the time our real income has been slipping.
Yes we have got years of hard grind ahead of us, we have lost generations and we will have lost socio economic groups who may never be able to function properly again and will need life support for a very long time.
The bickering on here between intelligent adults would be laughable if it were not so sad.

The most Hysterical thing though..

I agree, once Blair got his hands on the Labour party they ceased to be the party of the working man

You won't be surprised that I don't agree with you, I believe the Labour Government made mistakes but I don't believe that the position we find ourselves in is only down to them.
The point I'm talking about specifically is that Labour, & Gordon Brown in particular, consistently took 100% of the credit for a boom that was basically down to the insane things going on in the money markets.
Then the second the inevitable crash came, he insta-claimed that it was 100% due to matters that were nothing do do with him.
Like I say, scum.
In principal the Tories would have done something similar, but at least they wouldn't have spent most of the money buying a couple million more votes by expanding the public sector & the number of people relying on benefits.0 -
