There is no argument in this. The argument though is why - defered tax? Taxpayers leaving the country? etc Who knows. Probably a combination of both and multiple other reasons.
the increase in tax rate was announced in advance
numerous companies therefore brought forward paying bonuses so they were paid before 5th April that year.
the reduction is 50% tax has been announced in advance.
numerous companies are delaying paying bonuses to 6th April 2013
exactly as one would predict and exactly as was predicted.
common sense really.0 -

Yeah. US housing bubble, unregulated derivatives trading, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, European Sovereign debt, reduced availability of trade finance, Lehmans,....all Labour's fault.
All the fault of that political party of that little country just off the European mainland.
Do you guys actually still believe the 'Labour mess' mantra, peddled by the right wing media to distract from Tory incompetence??0 -

So you've just listed the main things that funded Labours early years in power.
You do understand that they either take credit for both the boom & the bust, or neither, do you?
Only a complete moron, or labour activist, would try to claim that the "good years" were down to Labour & the bad years were nothing to do with them.0 -

Oh I believe that Labour are the best thing since sliced bread. That the tripartit banking agreement was a good idea, that Fred the Shreds pension was someone elses fault, that throwing money at problems without managing them effectively was ingenious from the labour party. I could go on but really can't be bothered. If you cant accept that labour got it wrong now in hindsight then you truely wear rose tinted glasses and would vote in a donkey into office if it was wearing a red rosette0 -

The Tories would have been just as happy to surf the boom and just as reluctant to take blame for crash.

Over the majority of Labours reign we were not in dire straights

And there you have it, just amazing!!
I love it when gems like this come up:rotfl:
It's like when those 50 year old seriel killers finally get caught after 20 murder's and someone comes up with "he was law abiding until the day they got caught".
or
As in this case, they were "prudent" and stuck to the "golden rule", until the day they were found out to have maxed out on the UK company credit card.0 -

Lol it does make me laugh when the best argument you can come up with is "other people are liars too".
Since I couldn't care less about the Tories & don't vote for them I'm glad you agree with me that Labour & their apologists are filthy lying scum.0 -

Or
Until THE GLOBAL FINANCIAL crisis struck
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

You won't be surprised that I don't agree with you, I believe the Labour Government made mistakes but I don't believe that the position we find ourselves in is only down to them.0 -

I am with you there, all three parties have MP's all coming from the same school Scumville, they could all walk into any political party and nobody would think they were out of place.
There is not a person in the UK now with a IQ higher larger than the average chimp who is listening to a politician on the TV with his/her ever so sincere expression and thinking "and wonder what the REAL truth is".
We have all watched the political thrillers in UK and across the pond in the good old USA where the "Cool Dudes" are all looking after us "limp a****s small guys" by keeping us from the truth because "God Dammit", we can't handle the truth".
Except now we have read the book and watched the movies, seen the house of cards(the original Grrr) and we all know how the system works now, WE NOW HOW THEIR GAME IS PLAYED. Yet these politicians continue like we are still so gullible and we will believe anything off a smarmy faced git they parade on the box when any crisis arrives.
I am with a lot of the Labour supporters on here who want them back in power for reasons I can only guess.
Then we will find out a very short time that the ones who want them back are not going to get what they think they would get, and we also find that what the Tories were doing was right thing but were just far too limp, pre 2007 is never coming back in our lifetime, some of you need to wake up fast.
You only have to watch the news today and look at the welfare sponging dogging unfaithfull drug taking child killer(his own children) that our politics have long since started to fail us, and don't dare tell me that this is an isolated case
Yep get your Labour party in just over two years time, then when they give us our new winter of discontent I am just hoping we might wake up enough to get a strong leader who is going to have one hell of a stinking job sorting this mess out.0
