I am designing a website for my Brownie Pack. Its looking quite good at the moment (if I say so myself)
I need a little help with some HTML code. I would like to put links in using HTML code, e.g a link to our County Website.
How would I do this?

If this is wrong then can a mod please delete it.
Can I have some thoughts on our little website https://www.3-r-dbiggleswadebrownies.org.uk (without the -'s)
does it look ok? Can I improve it?

Not bad for starters, though I think the menu text is a bit too small. Also, you seem to use different fonts for the main text - stick to one font in 1 or 2 sizes for consistency. I'm not a web design expert, so others may have better ideas.0

I'm getting "Page Cannot Be Displayed"?Have you taken the site down to change it? If you do this, I'd suggest having an alternative index.html page that tells visitors that the site is undergoing maintenance or whatever, which you can put in place while you work on your code.0

it actually displays ok for me thats because as said in the original post (5) to take out the dashes

I think that what you add to your website depends on 2 things. How you envisage the final design and who you hope to have as viewers.
The first is only limited by your imagination. Best thing is to take a look at similar websites and get some ideas. You might want to have a more exciting background to your pages or keep it clean and simple. If you want ideas for a background Google for free CSS or website templates to see what can be achieved at no cost.
The second must affect the first. Always keep in mind who will be viewing your site. Is it for encouragement and to instil interest and pride into the children? Is it an information resource for the adult leaders and parents, or both?
Maybe a page where the children could send in their thoughts about the trips and events they take part in? Vetted feedback could appear in the website with the children's names on so they can see their contributions on their screens and get them involved. Remember the site will be public and anyone will be able to fill the form in unless you devise a members' area with passwords etc. Take into account the extra workload on leaders if they have to vet submissions.
The photos are a good idea. I'm sure the kids enjoy seeing themselves on their monitors.
How about an achievement page? Every time one of the Brownies earns a badge (do they still do that?) their name and achievement can be posted on the website.
Hopefully there's a Brown Owl or two on here with other suggestions, but there's a start.0 -
P.S. You might get some ideas from sites such as these:
http://www.speldhurstbrownies.org.uk/
http://www.firstdorridgebrownies.org.uk/
Remember - direct copying of a website is plagarism. Copying ideas from more than one is research!!
Just see if they have some ideas useful to your site. At the end of the day it's your group's site and doesn't have to be similar to any other. Or you might feel that you want to keep a group identity and aim for similarities.
