DMUK have a dedicated PIP helpline for their members, I have been a member for years since it was the disabled drivers club and they have been invalauable to me over the years.
In the magazine this month is a guide to fighting speed humps, we have a WAV and have been fighting the LA for over a year about illegal speed humps so I was eager to read the article and I have followed their advice so hopefully we will be able to drive through my home village without problems soon. The speed humps are illegal and the LA admit they are too high but they say cant just take the humps out.
It is well worth the subs.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention.
I'd never heard of DMUK before.
Upon looking at their website I was interested in the first articleLandmark legal case against Arriva enters second phase
Tuesday, February 12th, 2013
Following an adjournment of the case at the end of last year, the landmark legal action against Arriva buses recommenced yesterday. The case challenges Arriva’s ‘First Come First Serve’ policy in respect of access to wheelchair space on their buses. The decision in the case will establish whether a wheelchair user has a legal right to the space and whether buses owe a legal duty to passengers under the Equality Act.
Arriva had been granted additional time to call witnesses to explain why they consider the adjustments made by other bus companies such as Lothian, and Go North East, could not be made by them. They argue that the cost of making reasonable adjustments to accommodate disabled passengers access to the wheelchair space was cost prohibitive.
Arriva also argue that a change to their policy would be prejudicial to parents using pushchairs, and has called evidence from the NCT on this issue. Unity Law (who represent the disabled Claimants) believe that this is a cynical attempt to create an unnecessary conflict between these two groups of bus users. Similar debates have taken place previously and Unity Law was able to advance evidence provided by groups representing mothers that they are in fact happy to move to accommodate wheelchair bus users.
Closing submissions with be heard in the Middlesbrough County Court on Wednesday 13th February 2013 at 12 noon. A judgement is expected sometime in March.
It seems it is not just mobility scooters being discriminated against on public transport but also wheelchairs.
I'll keep an eye on those developments as they could have far wider reaching benefits, especially if it is the case buses do owe a legal duty to passengers under the EA. I would assume this would then be the case for all forms of public transport.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
