When I think of a stolen car I think, rightly or wrongly, of it being thrashed around by a car thief who obviously has no regard for it.
This would put me off.
Of course this may not always be the case, but to be completely honest with so many used cars for sale, why choose to buy one that you know has been stolen at some point?0 -
personally it wouldnt bother me, as long as it is showing as recovered and everything else checks out ok with the car. however i would expect to buy it for less than a car that hadnt been stolen."Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that!"0

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment, on what basis would you expect to pay less for it if the car checks out and it having been stolen during its lifetime wouldn't bother you?
Surely if it has been recovered and everything is fine with it it should be worth no less a counterpart vehicle that had not been stolen?0 -
The keys would be a good start, or the repair/ decoding costs are astronomical.Be happy...;)0

The car i've seen is 40% cheaper than other cars of its age/condition.
Huge saving because its stolen recpvered.0 -

I wouldn't be put off at all......assuming this is stolen AND RECOVERED...and not just stolen. LOL!"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
If you're not concerned that it has been stolen or are willing to let the discounted price offset whatever concerns you have, then I suppose you ultimately make your decision based on the car's history and condition as you would with any other car.
I don't think I'd personally go for a car that had been stolen, but that is just my own preference.0 -

you pay less because the fact it was stolen. any markers on a car, eg. stolen, damage category, etc, will all reduce vehicle value!"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that!"0 -
Like any car you have to check it bumper to bumper and assess it properly. With the "triple-dip" a lot of cars that can no longer be afforded or have a potentially expensive fault can end up this way. A nice driving BMW for example with some warning lights on the dash and a faulty speedo might look fine, but at dealer pices that could be a £1500 fix.0

I would be concerned that might have a marker on it, used in connection with a crime. It would be a pain to be pulled over because of the cars past.
Another thing to think about is that it will be worth less when you come to sell it.0
